Im not a huge halloween person. In fact I normally decorate only for fall and then jump right into christmas but this year I wanted to decorate our home with the feeling of halloween without the spooky. Almost a leveled up twist on traditional halloween decor. I didn't want ghost garland or bats flying up my walls so I looked for decor that was dark and moody but could transfer into fall. The goal was mainly decor that gave me a halloween feeling without being obvious but of course I did get some things that are very halloween.

You can decorate with candle sticks year round and black matches so many different styles so even if your style changes before next halloween season these will always work. You can get packs of two, three or more with varying styles all over the internet. This set of six has a classic style.

I love making small changes that have a big impact. You dont always have to buy new items to change the look and feeling of your space. Changing the photos in your home can have the same impact as changing a chair or pillow covers but often its not the first thing that comes to someones mind. I have a gallery wall in our living room I love to change the images of as the seasons change. Places like Etsy and Amazon offer packs or bundles of images that are curated to look good together. This bundle is perfect for a moody halloween feeling and you could keep some and use them in different seasons.

Stepping outside for this pick are some black candle holders. These are awesome year round but especially for the spooky season having a set of these at your front door with the flicker of candle light will make your entryway a halloween feeling. This set comes with battery operated candles so that you dont have to worry.

This one is obviously halloween but adding a fun bath mat to your kids bathroom or guest bath is a fun way to decorate simply for this holiday. Bathrooms are often rooms that get forgotten about especially during the holiday season. Something as simple as a themed bathmat brings function and style. This one is fun but will match most bathroom decors.

Like I mentioned with art prints changing your pillow covers is an affordable way to decorate your space for the season. Bring in darker tones like browns, jewel tones, and warm tans will give a space the fall and halloween feeling without being obvious. You dont need to paint a room a dark color to achieve the dark academia look that works so well for halloween. Instead bringing in darker colors in your vases, pillow covers, rug, and throw blankets can give you the same feeling.

No.6

Faux florals are always one of the things I change in a room for each season. For halloween you dont need the fake looking black florals. Instead look for ones that are more muted in color almost like they have dried out in an old haunted mansion. This are great and you can keep them well into fall and winter.

No.7

Whether your a Harry Potter fan or not you cant deny these floating candles are so cool. I can see them in a covered patio with a table underneath set for dinner or an entryway in your home all hanging from the ceiling at varies lengths. They would add the perfect amount of lighting for a moody ambiance while not feeling overly halloween. This set comes with 20 and is wand activated.
