Our Favorite Girls Bedroom Wallpaper

Today, I'm thrilled to share some tips and tales from the delightful adventure of giving my girls' bedroom a magical makeover with the power of wallpaper. It's amazing how a simple roll of paper can transform a space into a whimsical wonderland, sparking joy and creativity in the hearts of our little ones.

Tip 1: Choose a Theme that Speaks to Their Hearts

Before diving into the world of wallpaper, sit down with your kids and explore themes that capture their imagination. For my girls, soft colors, cozy, and woodland creatures were the clear winners. Once you have a theme in mind, selecting the right wallpaper becomes an exciting journey.

Tip 2: Gather your Supplies

Our girls are creatures of habit so we knew this makeover could not take over a week for our sanity and theirs. So prep before you start to make everything go smooth and faster. The entire makeover took my husband and I four days to complete. We started by clearing the room, taking everything off their walls and wiping down the walls and ceiling. On hand for the installing part we got a wallpapering kit off amazon that included a straight edge knife for clean cuts and two smoothers to get out any bubbles.

Favorite Wallpaper Design #1 : Woodland Forest Animals

We love this design so much with the little forest animals, bringing the magic of the outdoors into the room! This design has deer, foxes, squirrels, bunnies and hedgehogs. One of my girls loves hedgehogs so of course we ordered a sample. The only things I was unsure about with this design was the grey color since we were thinking of adding color to their room as well as how busy the design is. Ordering the sample defiantly helped visualize the actual size of the design compared to the room.

Favorite Wallpaper Design #2 : Cherry Vine

This one is so cute! Not as busy but it does have a very pretty pink/red berries and the vines create a lot of visual interest without being over whelming. Our oldest choose this one immediately so of course it was added to cart. The really nice thing with Jo-Lou Design is she offers a sample pack so we can choose three designs and try them all to see which one we love most.

Favorite Wallpaper Design #3 : Dark Floral

We decided to get a little daring and get one of Jo-Lou’s darker wallpaper. Both girls loved this wallpaper and it has a lot of colors inside the design that we can incorporate into the rest of their bedroom. The contrast between the dark backdrop and vibrant blooms creates a mesmerizing effect that draws you in, inviting you to explore the intricate details.

Ordering from Kelsey was super easy and it was out for delivery within a few days! I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the samples once they arrived. I’ve always seen 6x6 inch samples but to get a 2x1 FOOT long sample was awesome. It showed us the perfect amount of the designs to see how they would look in the girls room. In the end we decided on Dark Floral for the girls room. It was playful yet a design that they can grow up with.

Its a Balancing Act

One concern many have with dark wallpaper is the fear of the room feeling dim. However, this is a south facing room that gets a lot of natural sunlight so it remained bright and welcoming. The wallpaper actually creating a cozy and relaxing ambiance that's perfect for relaxing evenings when we are getting the girls ready to go to bed. We chose to pair the dramatic wallpaper with lighter furniture and accents to prevent the room from feeling too heavy. We already had the girls light wood beds and added poka dot bedding with soft cream comforter to add texture without taking away from the wallpaper. On each side of the girls beds I got gold sconces and a small nightstand in between.

Final Thoughts

Our journey to transform the girls' bedroom was nothing short of magical! The power of wallpaper allowed us to create a space that reflects their personalities, sparks their creativity, and, most importantly, brings joy to their little hearts. In the end the Dark Floral wallpaper is the perfect pattern for their room.

Remember decorating with wallpaper opens up a world of possibilities. Whether you choose a bold, vibrant pattern or a subtle, dreamy design, the right wallpaper can truly transform a room into a magical haven for your little ones. Happy decorating!
